Projects

Some of Dane’s major projects:

ASPIRE to Teach

ASPIRE is an alternative teacher licensure program. Dane serves as an assistant professor supporting mostly social studies teachers.

CU-Denver Curriculum & Instruction Master’s

The program serves teachers in the classroom looking to enhance their theoretical understandings and practical applications. Dane teaches two courses in the program: Curriculum Theories in education and the Culture of Education Policy.

Denver Public Schools Student Voice & Leadership

The program positions DPS students to identify problems, conduct their own research, devise equitable policy solutions, and work with adults to implement those policies. Dane serves several roles. He co-create the core curriculum, supports teacher training, and conducts qualitative and quantitative research.

Critical Civic Inquiry - Transformative Student Voice

CCI and TSV grow out of the work of Ben Kirshner (CU-Boulder), Carlos Hipolito-Delgado (CU-Denver), and Shelley Zion (Rowan University). The research collective has been active for more than 15 years. Dane was an early student, his classroom was a site of early CCI/TSV research, and he continues to work with TSV supporting its initiatives in Colorado, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and other locations.

Action Research Network of the Americas

ARNA connects action researchers across North and South America. Dane is the organization’s treasurer and heads up the YPAR community. He was the organization’s 2022 promising action researcher and is co-chair of the organization’s 2024 hybrid conference online and at Eastern Michigan University.
